Whilst we are an operator and our prime task is to ensure the safe and cost effective transportation of our clients products from a to b. We pride ourselves on not only providing this service at the service level our customers require of us but also we offer them professional sparing and advise in terms of effectively establishing the related landside facilities.

We have decades of experience handling traditional cargoes such as coal, metals , concentrates etc as well as increasing important bulk cargoe such as biomass products. Transporting about 42 million tons of cargo last year illustates the magnitude of our experience.

From a more practical angle we do also understand and appreciate clients landside challenges, as we also have our own dedicated fertilizer terminal in Santos, Brazil. Based on our experience we are able to offer the professional advice and support our partners may require and by meeting such challenges together we are convinced a better and stronger partnership is assured to the best interest of both us and our clients alike. Coal

For Ultrabulk coal and coke are important commodities, our vessels lift more than nine to ten million metric tons per year. Our trade is with coal is both in Pacific and Atlantic, and the forward cargo commitments are stretching until at least 2021. We service coal clients in all our segments, handysize, supramax and panamax, and in many cases we use the vessels cranes and grabs, to load and discharge.

Scrap

We have been in the scrap trade for decades, both from Europe and North America. Our unique formulas for pricing freight according to shipping indices’ ensure our clients competitive market freight, without having to enter the market showing their position and having the challenge finding the suitable vessel. Fertilizer

Our vessels move between four and five million metric tons per year of fertilizer, serving clients in all three nutrients of phosphate, nitrogen and potash. Our forward cargo commitments in fertilizer are running at least to 2024 and by volume represent in excess of 33.5 million metric tons.

We have been working with the fertilizer industry for a few decades, and our involvement includes more comprehensive transport solutions e.g. our investment in a dedicated fertilizer terminal in Santos, Brazil where we handle more than one million MT of fertilizer per year from the vessel into storage and further delivered into the receivers truck or railcar.

We are members of The International Fertilizer Association, and you can meet us on their conferences

Alumina & Bauxite

Due to the nature of the aluminum industry it is often dependent on reliable ocean transportation, firstly to get supplies of bauxite to alumina refineries, and secondly to get the alumina to the place of aluminum production. These processes are often separated by great geographical distances, and Ultrabulk participate in the transport of both Bauxite and Alumina across all of our segments. Our involvement in the industry is long term, and our forward book is in excess of 23 million metric tons.

Bio Fuels

Ultrabulk has been following the development of the biofuel market from an early stage, and with our industrial focus on this trade we have managed to secure a forward cargo commitment in excess of 10 million metric tons going forward as far as 2026. Our fleet include 23 vessels with the necessary CO2 firefighting capabilities, of which three vessels are new design kamsarmax (82,000 DWT) vessels, unique to the industry.

Iron Ore

Iron ore is biggest dry cargo commodity by volume, and as such mainly transported by sea by capesize vessels. However at Ultrabulk we transport iron ore in all our segments, serving clients where loading and discharge terminals does not allow the bigger capesize vessels to operate

Grain

For Ultrabulk grain and agricultural products are very important commodities, underlined by the fact that our vessels move between six and seven million metric tons per year. Our vessels transport grain on the major grain routes from Americas to Asia and Europe, but we are also very active on niche markets into smaller ports in especially Latin America where our knowhow of local conditions place us in a good position to add value for our clients.

Minerals

We are engaged in transportation of minerals both as full cargoes and part cargoes. We perform a substantial number of spot shipments, but our portfolio also include medium term Contracts of Affreightment.

Steel

Steel is a cornerstone in the Ultrabulk operation, and our vessels transport between four and five million metric tons per year. Our involvement in steel is across all our segments, ranging from our panamax transports from Brazil to USA and Europe with full cargoes of steel slabs, down to the smallest consignments handled by the Ultrabulk Parcel Service.

Ultrabulk Parcel Service have regular sailings from Europe, Black Sea and Asia to The Americas. Several other routes are served and an adhoc, when required frequency

Our vessels carries more than 2.5 million metric tons of petcoke every year, moving in a wide range of shipment sizes from handy size to panamax. Often our ships are required to self-discharge the petcoke using the vessels cranes and grabs.

Sugar
